Both are very similar, old money neighborhoods and may depend on what you are trying to do. Is there anything else that you are looking for in a neighborhood?

Also, if you are looking for that type of neighborhood, did you consider another old money neighborhood that starts with a "S" in Scottholm?

This thread still gets views and has some information that may help you make a decision: https://www.city-data.com/forum/syrac...trathmore.html

Which is lower in crime?

Just looking for a quiet place.

Which would you prefer?

Both are probably similar, but I'd say that Sedgwick lower. Even this will depend on where in these neighborhoods you are comparing. I say that because the area of Strathmore pretty much south/SW/west of Onondaga Park area are similar to Sedgwick.

This and your last question are why I mentioned Scottholm, as it is very similar in look and feel, while being close to parks, colleges/universities, hospitals, etc.

With this said, I'd say between the 2 and putting myself in your shoes, I'd go with Sedgwick.

Also, just curious, but have you been to either of these neighborhoods in order to see what they look like?

Well, I have been to parts of Sedgwick and like it. The housing is very affordable to me (I currently live in Seattle, but I am considering relocation to Upstate NY because I have family in the Albany, NY area). I want to be close to my family, but not in the same city.

Appreciate your feedback ckhtankgod !

Sedgwick may be a slam dunk then. It isn't too far from the highway and it is near a heavily traveled street, which also has bus access, if you want to use it. Shopping isn't too far away either.

Strathmore definitely has higher crime. Sedgwick is very stable with a mix of established families, young married professionals and retirees.
