The OP asked for people to post pictures of Oakland, not editorialize. I for one have found it an enjoyable excuse to walk around the neighborhood. Not sure why anyone would begrudge someone the pleasure of posting pics of a place they live or enjoy. Here are a couple of mine, taken from my roof and a short walk away:

FYI, this isn't some "rich", segregated area of Oakland - it's East Oakland, median household income is $53,000, between Chinatown and 580, with an almost exactly even distribution of black, white, and Asian population.
