I have my main desktop computer on a UPS to prevent sudden shutdown and possible data corruption.

No outage here.

I was out too. Nice one on the hottest day of the year. Luckily it came back on quick. I noticed even their website was down. Maybe they tripped over a plug or something.

No power outage here today (Mission Bay). My wife and I debate getting central A/C every year. Room A/C seems good enough for a month or 2 every year.

You're a little closer to the coast so probably a smidge cooler, at least 2-3 degrees. When I drive from my house to the beach it's usually a full 6 degrees cooler according to my car. Yeah, it's hard to justify the A/C for a few weeks a year, but these weeks often feel pretty brutal. I have the room A/C and I wonder how long it will take running that to surpass the cost of a full system.

Using room AC here in Bay Park for the first time in at least a year or maybe two. Sweaty hot.

According to the latest SDGE commercials we are the solution to their problem. Don't use electricity and they won't have any blackouts. So, quit charging your EV. Don't use AC in this heat. Highest rates it the nation. You have to love that.

Is there another State with this issue? I mean, Texas has had issues but if anyone wants to compare bills? Not even close.

You forgot - add solar panels and generate your electricity and if you have excess we will pay you a much lower rate than when we sell the electricity to you.

That said - solar does give you some independence from SDGE and if you convert to heat pump HVAC as well as HP water heater you can also reduce your dependency on NG. Also CA utilities in general including SDGE are good at providing education to both contractors and homeowners including some courses that cost a good deal of money in other states are offered free in CA courtesy of the CEC. In SD the classes are held at the Innovation Center in Kearny Mesa.
