Was helping clean the family house and saw that today broke a record……for pollen particles? What?

“WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell said Monday's pollen count was 5,219, which shatters the previous record of 3,524 set on April 7, 2010. The count, which is defined by the number of grains of pollen in a cubic meter of air, is recorded by the North Carolina Division of Air Quality in Raleigh.”

Doesn't surprise me at all that someone is collecting and reporting that data, I just never thought of this as a metric to look at lol. I wonder where the sample(s) were taken? WRAL story probably says but I am so lazy that I can't even bother to click a link and scroll

Sweetgum catkins are littering my deck today. Hopefully we'll be on the backside of things soon.

Walking through the garden this afternoon and was amazed at all the pine candles littering the ground. I hope that means an early end to the sticky mess.

People with bad allergies do pay attention to the pollen count. They report it every day.

Been seeing small particles like very fine snow at night. They reflect off my headlamp when I'm walking in the evening. Anyone know what it is? I'm thinking pollen but this is nighttime

Pollen flies day or night. Unsure which is the white stuff, but Oak, Maple, Mulberry, and Pine trees are pollinating right now.

There's been a small respite the last several days, with colder temps and some rain.
