Yes, very common. Many people carry openly. I know at least two people near my hunting lease in Eastern NC that walk their dogs openly carrying.

You don't need a license. You need a license to conceal, not to carry. In any case, NC is a shall-issue state, so if you've taken your class and don't have felonies/DV history, you're pretty much guaranteed your permit.

Hello...I knew Amelia personally. We went to boot camp together. We served together. We were best friends for a bit. I lived with her and her ex husband. I was her friend for years. Then we stopped being friends when I took her exes side over custody which he won because she was extremely abusive and had a horrible temper.

I can say this because I witnessed this temper many times over years. She gave a child (a boy) up for adoption because this temper so bad and she knew she couldn’t raise a child alone. The father bolted because of her temper.

Her temper went from 0-90 over nothing in a matter of seconds.

She was working one day after her baby was born. Her daughter wouldn’t stop crying. She got mad and threw her baby at her boss and told her boss to keep her. Social services was involved after that.

I do not believe her ex did this. She was extremely abusive during their marriage. I witnessed this. He never had much of a temper. She did make his life a living h—l after things ended as well as his new wife’s. She stalked him and wouldn’t leave him alone. She dedicated a lot of time to making him miserable.

She had moments where she was the sweetest person in the world. Then moments where she was pure evil. So I wouldn’t be surprised if her temper got the best of her. It could have been someone she was seeing or someone who carjacked her that she lost her temper on.

I hate what happened to Amelia. Her ex knew how close we were at one time so he reached out to me to tell me what happened to her. I’ve been watching this story to see if they find the person responsible. But these things I said are also just the facts. I hope they find her killer. Her daughter deserves to know what happened to her mom.

Default My analysis on Amelia Betts murder

I read your post and no doubt there is a lot of detail and descriptions to work with.

I looked at the location of her work, Newport and where her body was found. I looked at the distances and agree that this was someone she knew. Maybe someone who knew she was a divorced single mom and wanted a relationship with her. Someone she felt sorry for. I also feel this person may have been kicked out of the military and frequented the Kangaroo. Then I looked at the area around the kangaroo. I kept coming back to the trailer park and the reason is simply this, it is a short drive to the Kangaroo, if you get kicked out of the military, you're not going to have a great income to live on and the trailer park would be affordable.

Then I looked at the Kangaroo again to see this distance to where her body was found. It would only take her 15 minutes to drive to the 10 miles to the park. This person more than likely frequented her job and didn't seem like a threat to her. He probably asked for a ride with a sob story all planned out. He would likely seem desperate to get to the park. She may have felt sorry for him. No doubt that person is probably still in the area and now frequents the circle K.

He could be someone police are used to dealing with maybe a drug addict. We know the person that shot her has anger issues already. Now they killed a young woman, possibly kicked out of the Military and drugs are easing their pain. The answers are all there just waiting to be found.

I am just an ordinary person, but I do pay close attention to detail and good at figuring out problematic issues and solutions.

This is only my opinion on what I believe happened to this girl. I do hope you are able to get the phone records and retest the bullets for comparison to other crimes.

Prayers to her family and I hope this gets resolved soon so her daughter and family may get the answers they deserve, and the killer put in jail.
