yeah and octomom just declared bankruptcy with more than 1 million in debt. and octomom does not belong in any conversation about typical or normal people.
LOL, Octomom has 14 kids, makes nothing and SOMEHOW lives in a big house in Los Angeles one of the most expensive metros in the US and you are complaining about 2-3 kids?
"Per court documents filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by E! News, the 36-year-old Suleman is seeking Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, claiming she’s no longer able to pay her bills, has less than $50,000 in assets and owes between $500,000 and $1 million in liabilities."
It's a combination of sinkhole concerns in some parts of the state, and because of hurricane risk. After the storms of 2004-05 (my county was a federal disaster area twice in ten months) property insurance skyrocketed in Florida, even if you aren't overly close to the coast. We're about six miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and $2K/year is considered to be pretty average for a house our size and age given our location, and we're actually lucky that a well-capitalized subsidiary of one of the big national companies will write a policy for us. A lot of people in the state who don't live in, IMO, overly risky areas either end up going through the equivalent of Akbar and Jeff's Insurance Hut (good luck getting any claims paid with them) or Citizen's Insurance, which is the state-run insurer of last resort in Florida.

This is good humor for sensible people. 100k is double the median family income in he country. It higher than the median family income in even the most expensive cities. If you struggle to make it with that salary you are entertaining to the rest of us because that is so far removed from reality.

Not that I disagree with your general premise that he may be wasting money, but 100k is not double the median family income "even the most expensive cities". Take Mclean, VA for instance. As of 2009, the median income for a household in was $156,943, and the median income for a family was $188,682.... Or Winnekta Illinois ($167,458), or South Barrington, IL... or any number of other places like Darien, Ct (146,755).... etc etc etc.

But most would consider Los Angeles as one of the cities considered the "most expensive" and it's median household income is $55,000. Of course the few small burbs will have pockets of much higher incomes. You were taking that posters words a bit too literally.
