The news amounts to reporting violence in Reading for seemingly half the newscast.

The amount of concentrated poverty is only surpassed by Camden.

As many know Reading was deemed the poorest city for it's size in the entire U.S. in 2011

Allentown is peaceful in comparison to Reading.

Many here in the Lehigh Valley call Reading Allentown's trash can due to most of the human's deemed trash seemingly are from there or move back to Reading from the Lehigh Valley.

If you haven't ever visited downtown Reading please don't unless you enjoy viewing moral and fiscal bankruptcy.
Reading may be pretty bad, but in comparison to areas previously mentioned, its not that bad. Chester is the eyesore of the Delaware Valley, and Pittsburgh has Duquesne, McKeesport, and Aliquippa. Here is a crime comparison of Reading to Duquesne; pretty crazy stuff. Look at the tables, the graphic is off. Reading is larger, but this extends all along the Monongahela River.

Of the small towns I want to note that Susquehanna, in the far north east "Endless Mountains Region," is situated in a beautiful setting on the Susquehanna River nestled in the mountains ... but the town seems very poor and most of the stores on the main street are empty and abandoned.

Not much raison d'etre for the small railroad shop town anymore, especially when it's hard to reach by other transport links.
