I used to live in the DC area, and the fans have always hated Jack Kent Cooke Stadium/FedEx Field, however the team was not looking for a new stadium back then due to the 30 year lease. They're likely going to need to extend it a couple years because they still don't know where, and in which state, the new stadium will be.

I've been to Seattle, SF/Santa Clara, Los Angeles, New England, Dallas, Washington/Landover, NY/Meadlowlands, Arizona, and Chicago and have yet to see an NFL stadium without tailgaters. You seem to have this thing against it, but it's everywhere.

The NFL is never going to be some walkable urban neighborhood sport. But MLB is very much that in many cities. Even the Arizona Diamondbacks have tons of fans who come now via light rail downtown and populate bars and restaurants around the stadium. The NBA is similar. The NFL requires far more acreage per site, more seats, and far more road capacity.

Potomac Yards is not a possibility with or without the Wizards/Caps due to parking and acreage requirements for a 65,000 seat stadium. The main Virginia site under consideration is 30 miles from DC near Dulles Airport, near the team's training facility. The Metro has recently been extended out there, but much like the current setup in PG County, it could require shuttle buses or very long walks. The RFK site has a metro stop but also plenty of space for parking because there is no restaurant/retail in the neighborhood. Nats Park has very little surface parking around it and is now surrounded by restaurants, condos, and retail. Works for MLB, not the NFL.

Per my last post, consider Metro Phoenix. MLB and NBA are right downtown off a light rail line in a walkable neighborhood. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are way out in Glendale surrounded by surface parking lots and right off an exit ramp. There is a suburban chain restaurant mall right across the street, but it too has tons of surface parking and is not setup for pedestrians. The reality is that there are places were walkable urbanity works, and others where auto-oriented does. The combo NFL/MLB stadiums didn't work for anyone, so be glad that MLB has broken away from suburban style off ramps, because walkable urban stadiums will never work for the NFL.

Actually, they should extend the NYC #7 subway line out to NJ, put stops at the 9th/Congress St light rail station, Secaucus Junction NJT station, and at the Meadowland. Build a new PABT at the Meadowlands. Then demolish the existing PABT. Ground lease the PABT land in Manhattan, and use the lease payment to float bonds to pay for all this.

Clearly you have not been to Seattle(Seahawks), Atlanta(Falcons), Charlotte(Carolina Panthers), and New Orleans(Saints) which are all in relative urban areas with light rail, and they have worked pretty well so your idea that it doesn't work is false. Only idiots would think an NFL Stadium can't work in an urban area and the only reason is "tailgating" which only a small minority fans truly do. Tailgate fans are only there to light up their grill which they can do in their backyard. And walkable urban stadiums with transit keep out drunk drivers.

Those are all cities with far cheaper real estate than NY/NJ, DC, SF, Boston, where land costs make downtown NFL stadiums virtually impossible. Seattle used the land from the Kingdome which was built in the 70s when Seattle had dirt cheap real estate. Moreover, people drive to all the places you listed. Interestingly, Santa Clara gets plenty of people to ride the light rail to Niners games, but also has tons of surface parking lots and tailgaters, whom you seem to have an odd dislike for. Freedom of choice.

Also, it doesn't matter what Europe does or thinks, I laugh at their weak, outdated economies, and soccer bores me to tears.

Looks like you are wrong, cause the Commanders are still pressing for a new stadum:

2)Fed-Ex field is in Landover, MD and nearest DC metro stop is a mile away.

3)Even RFK doesn't fall through, Potomac Yards is a possibility although with the Wizards moving there it might complicate things.

The reality parking lot stadiums are moronic and following a European model of direct transit to the stadium is the way to go.
1)Now you're just making crap up!

2)There is a metro stop on the side off the parking lot

3)RFK is in the process of being torn down and is Government land

The Jets didn't start in Queens. Neither did the Mets. Both started in the Polo Grounds. In fact the Jets' original name was Titans which they went by for most of their time in the Polo Grounds.

1) I been to the stadium many times for Giants games and occasional Jets games. Tailgaters just like in all other stadiums are not the majority so don't deserve any accommodation. It's like saying since we have influencers/instagrammers, we need to have a Twitch lounge in the stadium. Some stadiums do not but many if not most don't/

2) No kidding but you need two trains on the same mode NJ Transit to get to the stadium.

3) Doesn't change anything.
