It occurred to me that although these lights may look pretty and are probably convenient to use, it's still a net. I think people don't realize that many birds nest in bushes. It would be extremely difficult for the bird to figure out how to get in...or out! They don't all fly south and it's cold out there!

Not sure about that. I have some and I don't think you could call it 'mesh' - the openings are large enough that, need be, my blue and gold can crawl right through. Thus far, I haven't seen any native NJ birds that large nesting low in bushes.

However, there could be some mesh lighting that is small, so it is something to keep in mind.
