Because everyone expects a movie as good as 6th sense
However it is true that he has never made a movie that has lost money for the movie company except for Lady in the Water
Yeah so what is the point of everyone watching his movies? He has made a lot of money for the movie company he has worked for. Its ridiculous the hatred there is for him.....

1. So what if they have made a lot of money? Police Academy IV made 28 million and opened at number 1. Not even I would argue that it is a good movie. And I liked Machete and The Gingerdead Man.
2. Negative people are far more vocal than positive people.
3. I wouldn't say I hate him, but I do hate a lot of his movies. Signs and The Village sucked. I enjoyed Sixth Sense and being a comic book fan, I liked Unbreakable.
[People like to hate M. Night Shyamalan]But almost every single one of his movies. He has made much more than the what it had cost to make and advertise, etc. So what is the deal?
Your first sentence does not make sense. Do you mean almost every single one of his movies made money? Well, so what? Michael Bay movies tend to do well at the BO but he receives much more criticisms than Shyamalan. IMO, his first three films were good to excellent, Signs was alright, and it was all downhill from there. For instance, i think The Happening was one of the worst films ever. It was up there with Manos. A lot of people share that opinion, some do not. I don't think many people hate the guy, some just think he is a mediocre to poor write and/or filmmaker. I'm one of them. It is not being negative, it is just having an opinion about the films I've seen. Heck, I think Ed Wood was a pretty cool guy despite being one of the worst film directors ever. I think Fritz Lang was ogreish despite being a genius and film-making pioneer. There is no haterade, just an opinion about the guy's works.
Not a huge fan of his directing but his acting is what stands out. Horrid! In "Signs" he made Keanu Reeves look like his name should be preceeded by the words "Oscar winner".

LOL, I agree! His acting seemed frozen or timid to me. S. King was no actor either but at least he could pull those little roles he appeared in any of his movies.
I don't hate the guy to be honest. I think he is very overrated, over-hyped but that probably is natural due to his success with 6th Sense but failed to produce anything else even remotely similar which always made me think it was not him who wrote 6th Sense.

If only that movie had some decent nudity in it, it might have made more $$ than 6th Sense.
