Hello, folks. I'm looking for some info about the 7th Street area of Shively, specifically from the 80's through the early 00's. Does anyone remember an ice cream supply facility that was then turned into a junkyard? I know there is an ice cream truck supplier in that area now, but was it the same in the past, or a different name? I've googled my heart out, and all I can find about the area is mostly info about 7th Street closer to downtown. I'm looking for info closer to the Berry Blvd. intersection. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

There isn't much of any of that left at Berry and 7th. The only things left are the strip clubs and boobie bars that look like their best days were about 1978. The Thorobred Lounge was there and of course there's the decrepit White Castle on the other corner. The other corner is a retail strip mall with cell phone businesses mostly catering to the low income clientele of the area around there such as Boost Mobile. South of the intersection is a bunch of nasty apartments that regularly have crime problems and people get shot there as well as the police are called a bunch. I know, I lived in that general area for a few years south of the Watterson but still hearing all of the trash and nonsense that went on there.

Southeast are the ill famed Georgetown Apartments where at least several people have been killed over the past few years. Not only that but a family from Louisville that I know had their son killed by one of the morons that lived there over a few dollars. Its also well known for gang activity because you can see the gang symbols and shoes from electric lines hanging around quite prominently.

Don't know about the ice cream truck supplier in that area and I lived there much of the decade of 2000 to 2012 on Dixie and used to work downtown and over around the fairgrounds so I passed through there often. There is a junkhard and a flea market place on the right heading south on 7th after you pass Algonquin and further south. Some post industrial buildings and low end housing on the east side of the road and of course the ubiquitous strip clubs. There are nothing much more than that other than maybe a place that repairs or services semi trucks, a rental agency for U Haul and some car lots.

Thats about all it is these days. Its pretty much been overran by people with bad behavior and a lot of crime. My ex-fiancee's sister was attacked by two guys in her car just over in the Wyandotte neighborhood over around Kahlert one year she got lucky locked the doors and drove away before she ended up a carjacking and rape victim. That is the type of garbage people you have residing in that area that used to be a nice place.

The so called ice cream truck supplier is a company that is a ice cream truck company that leases the vans, so you can be broke a little slower. A friend of mine drove for them one summer. You lease the van kinda like a cab, pay for your own inventory and gas. A 90s Chevy Van with a 305 and full of pop sicles are not that fuel efficient.

Default 80s Radcliff area question

Hello.. I saw in your reply above that you have a wealth of knowledge about that area. I have a question.. my father took me to Ft. Knox when I was 10-11 yrs old so about 1982 roughly. One thing I remember and laugh about now is remembering looking out the car window and seeing a sign for a bar/strip bar called "The Boobie Trap". I told the story to my now girlfriend just laughing telling growing up stories and Ft. Knox trip came up. Do you have any knowledge of this place or maybe direct me to who might? Thanks in advance.
