LVHN announced yesterday (Nov 10, 2022) that it would be withdrawing from Aetna's in-network system effective March 13, 2023, or 120 days from the announcement. Thoughts?

I am wondering if this is a negotiating tactic similar to when cable providers feud with the owners of the channels they offer. But this being healthcare, seems way more serious.

It's unthinkable to me that they are doing that. So many people have Aetna.

St. Luke's takes Aetna plans, so there's that. For me, SLHN is far superior to LVHN in terms of quality of care and multiple locations through out NEPA.

They go thru this every 10 years or so.

At the end about a week or two later Aetna and the Hospital come to a agreement on rates / terms / discounts.

My HR department's guy says Aetna told him they should have it resolved "by the of February". That's a little too close to the March 13 deadline for comfort, but if they do this as a regular thing then I guess it will work out.

It's too bad people get caught in the middle with this stuff. My wife will have appointments set up by then, and she'll be pulling her hair out with worry over a potential forced switch to St. Luke's. Oh well, if it happens again 10 years down the road, we'll both be on Medicare by then!

We use St. Luke's so this shouldn't affect us, but I agree that it will be a stresser for so many people.
