Default Surah 84, Al-Inshiqaq

TRANSLATION

BismillahirRahmanirRahim
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

84. Al-Insyiqaq

084.001
YUSUFALI: When the sky is rent asunder,
PICKTHAL: When the heaven is split asunder
SHAKIR: When the heaven bursts asunder,

084.002
YUSUFALI: And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);-
PICKTHAL: And attentive to her Lord in fear,
SHAKIR: And obeys its Lord and it must.

084.003
YUSUFALI: And when the earth is flattened out,
PICKTHAL: And when the earth is spread out
SHAKIR: And when the earth is stretched,

084.004
YUSUFALI: And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty,
PICKTHAL: And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty
SHAKIR: And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty,

084.005
YUSUFALI: And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality).
PICKTHAL: And attentive to her Lord in fear!
SHAKIR: And obeys its Lord and it must.

084.006
YUSUFALI: O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him.
PICKTHAL: Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence).
SHAKIR: O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.

084.007
YUSUFALI: Then he who is given his Record in his right hand,
PICKTHAL: Then whoso is given his account in his right hand
SHAKIR: Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand,

084.008
YUSUFALI: Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,
PICKTHAL: He truly will receive an easy reckoning
SHAKIR: He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning,

084.009
YUSUFALI: And he will turn to his people, rejoicing!
PICKTHAL: And will return unto his folk in joy.
SHAKIR: And he shall go back to his people joyful.

084.010
YUSUFALI: But he who is given his Record behind his back,-
PICKTHAL: But whoso is given his account behind his back,
SHAKIR: And as to him who is given his book behind his back,

084.011
YUSUFALI: Soon will he cry for perdition,
PICKTHAL: He surely will invoke destruction
SHAKIR: He shall call for perdition,

084.012
YUSUFALI: And he will enter a Blazing Fire.
PICKTHAL: And be thrown to scorching fire.
SHAKIR: And enter into burning fire.

084.013
YUSUFALI: Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!
PICKTHAL: He verily lived joyous with his folk,
SHAKIR: Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers.

084.014
YUSUFALI: Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!
PICKTHAL: He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah).
SHAKIR: Surely he thought that he would never return.

084.015
YUSUFALI: Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!
PICKTHAL: Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him!
SHAKIR: Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him.

084.016
YUSUFALI: So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;
PICKTHAL: Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset,
SHAKIR: But nay! I swear by the sunset redness,

084.017
YUSUFALI: The Night and its Homing;
PICKTHAL: And by the night and all that it enshroudeth,
SHAKIR: And the night and that which it drives on,

084.018
YUSUFALI: And the Moon in her fullness:
PICKTHAL: And by the moon when she is at the full,
SHAKIR: And the moon when it grows full,

084.019
YUSUFALI: Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage.
PICKTHAL: That ye shall journey on from plane to plane.
SHAKIR: That you shall most certainly enter one state after another.

084.020
YUSUFALI: What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?-
PICKTHAL: What aileth them, then, that they believe not
SHAKIR: But what is the matter with them that they do not believe,

084.021
YUSUFALI: And when the Qur’an is read to them, they fall not prostrate,
PICKTHAL: And, when the Qur’an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?
SHAKIR: And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance?

084.022
YUSUFALI: But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).
PICKTHAL: Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny;
SHAKIR: Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth.

084.023
YUSUFALI: But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts)
PICKTHAL: And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding.
SHAKIR: And Allah knows best what they hide,

084.024
YUSUFALI: So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,
PICKTHAL: So give them tidings of a painful doom,
SHAKIR: So announce to them a painful punishment~

084.025
YUSUFALI: Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail.
PICKTHAL: Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing.
SHAKIR: Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off

Default Juz 30 Surah 85: Al-Buruj

TRANSLATION

BismillahirRahmanirRahim

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
85. Al-Buruj

085.001
YUSUFALI: By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs;
PICKTHAL: By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars,
SHAKIR: I swear by the mansions of the stars,

085.002
YUSUFALI: By the promised Day (of Judgment);
PICKTHAL: And by the Promised Day.
SHAKIR: And the promised day,

085.003
YUSUFALI: By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;-
PICKTHAL: And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony,
SHAKIR: And the bearer of witness and those against whom the witness is borne.

085.004
YUSUFALI: Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire),
PICKTHAL: (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch
SHAKIR: Cursed be the makers of the pit,

085.005
YUSUFALI: Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel:
PICKTHAL: Of the fuel-fed fire,
SHAKIR: Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel,

085.006
YUSUFALI: Behold! they sat over against the (fire),
PICKTHAL: When they sat by it,
SHAKIR: When they sat by it,

085.007
YUSUFALI: And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers.
PICKTHAL: And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers.
SHAKIR: And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers.

085.008
YUSUFALI: And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!-
PICKTHAL: They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise,
SHAKIR: And they did not take vengeance on them for aught except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praised,

085.009
YUSUFALI: Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things.
PICKTHAL: Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness.
SHAKIR: Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things.

085.010
YUSUFALI: Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire.
PICKTHAL: Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning.
SHAKIR: Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning.

085.011
YUSUFALI: For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires),
PICKTHAL: Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success.
SHAKIR: Surely (as for) those who believe and do good, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow, that is the great achievement.

085.012
YUSUFALI: Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.
PICKTHAL: Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern.
SHAKIR: Surely the might of your Lord is great.

085.013
YUSUFALI: It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life).
PICKTHAL: Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth,
SHAKIR: Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces,

085.014
YUSUFALI: And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,
PICKTHAL: And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,
SHAKIR: And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,

085.015
YUSUFALI: Lord of the Throne of Glory,
PICKTHAL: Lord of the Throne of Glory,
SHAKIR: Lord of the Arsh, the Glorious,

085.016
YUSUFALI: Doer (without let) of all that He intends.
PICKTHAL: Doer of what He will.
SHAKIR: The great doer of what He will.

085.017
YUSUFALI: Has the story reached thee, of the forces-
PICKTHAL: Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts
SHAKIR: Has not there come to you the story of the hosts,

085.018
YUSUFALI: Of Pharaoh and the Thamud?
PICKTHAL: Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud?
SHAKIR: Of Firon and Samood?

085.019
YUSUFALI: And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)!
PICKTHAL: Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial
SHAKIR: Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth.

085.020
YUSUFALI: But Allah doth encompass them from behind!
PICKTHAL: And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them.
SHAKIR: And Allah encompasses them on every side.

085.021
YUSUFALI: Day, this is a Glorious Qur’an,
PICKTHAL: Nay, but it is a glorious Qur’an.
SHAKIR: Nay! it is a glorious Quran,

085.022
YUSUFALI: (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved!
PICKTHAL: On a guarded tablet.
SHAKIR: In a guarded tablet.
