29May18 4aCDT/5aEDT - Depression near central AL this AM, winds up to 30mph, moving NNW 13mph, pressure 995mb. Chance of flash flooding / flooding where Flood Watches are posted, isolated small brief tornado possible central & N GA, W SC, SW NC, E AL, and Central/East TN today.

29May18 - Flash flood probability for the day: the percentages represent the probability of Flash Flooding occuring within 25miles of any specific point in that area (ie: if you're in the red (20%), then there's a 20% probability that flash flooding may occur within 25miles of your location).

29May18 6pEDT - NWS GSP reporting multiple mudslides/landslides in NC mountains as scattered heavy rains & flash flood warnings continue, multiple rivers continuing to rise.

31May - Alberto is a Post-Tropical Low pressure system moving from Michigan into Canada. Still trying to pull moisture all the way from the Caribbean helping scattered showers remain across the Eastern US.

At least 5 deaths blamed on the storm:
1 drowning FL coast
2 by falling tree NC mountains
2 by collapsed building in mudslide NC mountains

1st report of the Hurricane season on a US landfalling system is out:
They say Alberto was a tropical storm now instead of a subtropical storm at landfall

Lengthy summary with rainfall, wind, pressure reports listed as well.

Finally had time to read it. Quick summary:

-Tropical Depression all the way into Michigan.
-Sustained Tropical Storm force winds (39+mph) occurred along coast between Panama City and St. Marks on Apalachee Bay.
-Peak estimated storm strength was 63mph, pressure 990mb while still over Gulf of Mexico.
-Landfall estimated winds 46mph, pressure 992mb.

Deaths - 18 total ( 8 US, 10 Cuba):
-5 in NC:
--2 WYFF reporters by tree on vehicle
--1 mudslide
--2 landslide & subsequent explosion from gas leak
-3 in VA by flooding
-10 in Cuba by flooding.

Cost: NOAA NCEI estimates $125mln

-US Observations (reminder observation points are often miles apart meaning we only have so much observable data to go on and likely missed valuable data):
-Peak sustained wind:
--51mph St. George Island bridge (over open water).
--51mph* Tyndall AFB (*Tower measurement higher up where winds would likely be higher then ground level)
-Peak wind gust:
--64mph NOAA buoy (over open waters)
--62mph* Tyndall AFB (*Tower measurement higher up where winds would likely be higher then ground level)
--59mph Tyndall AFB
-Peak Storm Surge: 3.08ft Apalachicola, FL


-Max rainfall by state:
--FL: 11.8in Taylor Creek (Lake Okeechobee).
--GA: 12.30in near Helen
--NC: 12.21in near Jonas Ridge
--SC: 8.89in near Tryon NC border
--VA: 5.48in near Lewis Mountain Camp
--AL: 8.07in near Cloverdale
--TN: 6.17in near Graysville
--KY: 3.62in near Paducah
--IN: 2.35in near Evansville
--IL: 4.48in near Barrington
--MI: 2.08in near Lowell
