OK, we have a family cabin that our extended family shares (my parents, me, my grown kids and their children), and my husband and I are redecorating what's been designated as "our room." We had to buy a queen size mattress so we needed a headboard because we both like to sit up and read at night. We also installed a TV (sometimes we just need to get away from seven grandkids, five grown kids and a couple of elderly people!).
We had my great grandmother's victorian dresser and and antique radio stand - that's all that we wanted to keep in the room. The rest is going into storage or to Goodwill!
Speaking of Goodwill, we didn't want to go out and spend much money on this furniture - after all, it's just a cabin we're talking about. Besides, we like repurposing and recycling things.
It's a work in progress, so I'll post pictures over the next couple of weeks!
Here's the cabin - I think it's awesome!
Here's the dresser we'll be using (in a different room right now). I love it!
Here is the room now. It may look pretty cool, but that double bed in a metal frame is sheer hell! Also, it's been being used as a kids' room - hence the toys. The carpet has a pattern, so we need to match things up with that.
Here is the lovely furniture I'm redoing - all from resale shops. I'm going to paint it. It's got primer on it right now. BLECH!
Vintage 1980s! LOL Oh well, we got it all for under $100 - including the paint.
More to come! I'm waiting for the paint to dry on it right now and stenciling is next!
