We are going to Lancaster for a wedding and will have 1 day (Friday) to explore the area. We are willing to drive an hour or so (but don't want to go to Philly). Any suggestions of a fun way to spend the day?

We enjoy outdoor activities, breweries, museums, history, etc....

Chocolate World in Hershey is free and there are other activities there and at the Hershey museum. You could visit the Hershey Gardens or even Hershey Park or Zoo America. The antique car association has a museum nearby as well. Hershey is about 30 minutes from Lancaster.

Iron Hill Brewery or Appalachian Brewing are both in Lancaster and are good places to eat, as well as Lancaster Brewing Company. Take the drive out Old Philadelphia Pike (Route 340) towards Intercourse, view the country side, stop at the many markets or shops and see the many working farms and Amish homes. If you want to experience good history, either the Landis Valley Museum (similar to Sturbridge or other small working museums), one of the guided tours of Lancaster or the Cloisters at Ephrata. Another cute town for walking and stopping for a food break is Lititz. Most of the people I would take to any of the above were thrilled with visiting the area.
