It's very common but, again, most attribute it to "catching" a "stomach flu" from others. A lot of people simply don't know how to cook or handle food safely anymore, and then of course there's a lot of eating of fast food or in restaurants; heaven only knows what all goes on there.
I've had food poisoning four times. Twice I gave it to myself: eating meringue before baking (raw egg whites) and once with under-cooked chicken.
I've learned my lesson and am very cautious now with food prep and eating raw and under-cooked foods.
