BOSTON — Mary Travers, who as one-third of the hugely popular 1960s folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary helped popularize such tunes as "Puff (The Magic Dragon)" and "If I Had a Hammer," died in a Connecticut hospital Wednesday after battling leukemia for several years. She was 72.

Mary Travers Dead At 72

Brings back some memories. I was just a kid but do recall the song "Puff the Magic Dragon" and some others..

Oh no! I just saw them on a PBS special just the other day... hadn't seen/heard them in a long time. Very sad.

RIP Mary.

Greg Focker: Who'd have thought it wasn't about a dragon.
Jack Byrnes: Huh?
Greg Focker: Well some people think that 'to puff the magic dragon' means to... puff... smoke... a marijuana cigarette.
Jack Byrnes: Puff is just the name of the boy's magical dragon... You a pothead, Focker?
Greg Focker: No, I pass on grass always. Well not always.
Jack Byrnes: Yes or no?
Greg Focker: No, um, yes, um...

If only someone had a hammer they could've hammered her leukemia out.

RIP Ms. Travers.

My older cousins would play your records when I was a boy.

Good memories.

There political views, not my thing: their music on the other hand. I don't think we have ever had music like theirs and others in the 60s and early 70s.
