What are some traditional Alaskan food you like to cook up.

You favorite Christmas and New Year dishes. This is a big time of year for making up some good foods.

New Years 20lbs of monster Alaskan King Crab and 10lbs of drawn butter, you thought you were in Heaven.

Oooohhh now I'm jealous! I haven't had Alaskan King Crab since I moved away! The commissary used to get special deals on really big boxes of it. As it stands hubby and I are tempted to make an order to Alaska sausage and seafood. Gotta get my fix of reindeer sausage.

Check with one of you local restaurant in the area that serve crab and ask em if ya can buy a sack or box of them. I was paying $140.00 for 20lbs of huge frozen crab legs.

I live in Maryland so blue crab is the big thing here. You can get Alaskan crab but its super expensive here. Hubby and I keep eyeing the halibut at Wegmans. We went halibut fishing in Homer and had a blast. Plan to do that again when we return back to AK

I like to fry up some of the red salmon from our freezer, blackening it in cajun blackening spice. Then I cut it up in small chunks, stick toothpicks in each & serve as an hors d'oeuvre.

What I'd love to make but never have is Gwin's smoked salmon chowder. It's delicious! Recipe is at the bottom of their restaurant page:
