Among the many ski/snowboard resorts near Lake Tahoe, Soda Springs Mountain Ski Resort stands out. It focuses specifically on families, providing amenities that parents and children are sure to appreciate. For example, the parking area is positioned so that gear doesn't have be hauled a long distance. There are chair lifts, moving carpets, and a tube carousel on the property, and pricing is budget friendly.

The Tube Town section offers a full day of snow tubing for visitors of all ages. The cost includes use of a 390-foot moving carpet and Soda Springs' approved tubes on 15 separate tubing lanes. Children who are least 42 inches tall are welcome on tubing tows, but they must be able to ride alone. No double riding is allowed.

At the Planet Kids section of the west side of the snow park, visitors aged 8 and under can enjoy tubing lanes, tube carousels, and a climbing volcano. A pair of moving carpets help youngsters get up the gentle 40-foot and 80-foot slopes. A sleigh ride is also provided to ferry guests to and from the main resort area.

Terrain for skiing, snowboarding, and mini-snowmobiling is also located on site, with two chair lifts to take snow enthusiasts to the top. Operating hours are from 9am to 4pm on Thursday through Monday; closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Prices range from $25 to $35 per person.
