Leo Carrillo State Park and Beach

Located just west of downtown Malibu, CA, Leo Carrillo State Park and Beach is 1.5 miles long and great for surfing, swimming, windsurfing, beachcombing, and surffishing.

The park was named after Leo Carrillo, an actor who served on the California Beach and Parks board for 18 years and was influential in acquiring the Hearst property in San Simeon. The beach itself is famous for scenes in several movies: Karate Kid, The Craft, Point Break, The Usual Suspects, and Inception.

This beach enjoys great scenery, shaded picnic areas, and backcountry hiking and is the only beach on the Santa Monica Mountain Range to have a sea cave. Visitors might also choose to explore the coastal caves, tide pools, and reefs. At the small Visitor Center, guests can participate in guided tours, nature walks, campfires, and children's programs. Leo Carrillo State Park amenities include token-operated showers, Wi-Fi service, restrooms, and dump station. Park hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

Leo Carrillo State Park and Beach is located about 40 miles west of the Los Angeles International Airport along the Pacific Coast Highway. Nearby, tourists can also visit Circle X Ranch Mountain Recreation, Point Dume, Animal Actors of Hollywood, and other beaches.
