La Piedra Beach

La Piedra Beach is one of many beaches making up the Robert Meyer Memorial State Beach. This beach is just a few miles from local campgrounds, the Santa Monica Mountains, and is just south of Paradise Cove.

This beach is usually low on crowds and offers plenty of clean, soft sand for children to enjoy. La Piedra Beach is popular among surfers and fisherman, but visitors will also enjoy views of sandstone cliffs (and nice reefs and kelp forests, if scuba diving).

The park is open every day from 8 a.m. to dusk. Parking is available for a fee. From the parking lot, a trail leads visitors on a hike descending 200 feet to a rocky area adjacent to the sandy beach.

While technically not allowed, nudity occasionally materializes, though not as frequently as in the past. Dogs are also not allowed at La Piedra Beach. Portable restrooms are located near the parking lot at the top of the cliffs. Food and drinks are not available.

At 32700 Pacific Coast Highway, this relaxing beach is located 50 minutes west of Los Angeles International Airport by car. The drive to this beach will be dotted with other "pocket beaches" along the coast.
