Coyote Hills Regional Park

Coyote Hills Regional Park is located in East Bay Regional Park District of Fremont, California. This area is to the southeast of San Francisco, and also has some shoreline of the San Francisco Bay. Coyote Hills is a small range, more like a hill than a true mountain where recreation is possible throughout the year.

From the hills it is possible to see the city and the three trans-bay bridges. The park houses a number of archeological sites such as the Ohlone site. Ohlone Native Americans used to range throughout California subsisting on wildlife and plants. Today visitors can look at the sites from a distance, but are not allowed on the actual grounds without permission.

A number of hiking trails are located in the park for hikers and horse riders. There are even 3.5 miles for cyclists. The trails are quite wide and built like fire roads. They help the visitor get around the marshes and up the hills where appropriate. A few narrow trails exist for hikers and bikes are not permitted. Many of the trails connect to the San Francisco Bay Trail. Coyote Hills Regional Park also has the distinction of being a remnant site for Project Nike Missile Base.
