Hi,
This my be very presumptuous of me, however, I am going to ask. My husband and I visited Silverton, a few weeks ago. I saw the students at recess. I was told that the number of students was only about 52.
I am a retired elementary teacher from Delaware. For 5 years I was a coalition science specialist for the state and my district. I was one of the first to initiate the science program for elementary.
I am sorry this is taking this long.
I had to be trained on the science kits, wrote some of the assessments, trained teachers, and promoted the program.
I have many teacher guidebooks, which are still being used. Very hands on and easy to find materials for hands on (we supply our teachers).
I DO NOT want to "throw" the instructor manuals away. I would love to see them used.
The assessments are on-line as well as unit directions using learning focused lessons and state/national standards alignment.
You can go to the website, fossweb.com to see the materials.
I would be extremely happy to send them to you. I even have some owl pellets and other materials. As you probably know, it is extremely hard for a teacher to let go of her collections, but if some other child can have success with them, then my work is done.
(Our teachers have to be trained to receive a manual and materials. The training is for background material and the use of the kit. You would not have any difficulties in learning the manuals. I also have some middle school guides. You can check out state testing in science and see that we have had slow, but increased assessments.)
Thank you for your time. I hope to hear from you soon.
