Description: Sponsored by San Antonio’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Downtown Operations Department, this 2-day annual event is scheduled for the Saturday and Sunday nearest March 6, the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo in 1836. The weekend includes education programs and demonstrations about life during the period. Costumed actors help visitors learn more about music of the time as well as food preparation, spinning, weaving, herbal medicine and early medical practices, and warfare. Attendees can visit and pose for photos with them. The programs help visitors learn more about the men, women, and children who lived on both sides of the famous conflict between the Texians and the Mexicans. The event also includes an exhibition of Alamo archaeological displays. Admission is free.
