Accommodations - Tulsa, Oklahoma

Accommodations

Tulsa is a great place to visit, and you need to stay long enough to get a feel for the city. That means spending the night—or two, three, or four. Listings here include economy accommodations to high-end stays. The delightful thing is that Tulsa’s highest-end stays are moderate compared to other cities—and they’re every bit as good, if not better, than facilities in much larger metropolises.

The way Tulsa is situated on the river, almost everything you’ll want to do will be located in the area east of the river and south of I-244—the southeast quadrant of town—so that’s where most of the accommodations listed will be located. Tulsa’s a safe place to visit, but as in any large city, some areas have more problems with vandalism than others. It’s easy to get from one side of town to the other, so choosing your stay by price and amenities rather than specific location may be the way to go. Bed-and-breakfast establishments follow the hotel listings. Several RV parks are listed at the end of the chapter.

Overview

As you look through the listings, here are some basics to remember. Most accommodations offer both smoking and nonsmoking rooms. The issue will be mentioned only if the facility is nonsmoking. Assume that parking is easily available at no charge. A few accommodations allow pets—we’ll be sure to let you know which ones do, whether or not a deposit is required, and if so, if it is refundable.

Today almost all accommodations are wheelchair accessible—exceptions include historic buildings and some bed-and-breakfasts. If an establishment has added aids like roll-in showers or devices for hearing-impaired guests, we’ll note that.

Many travelers feel more comfortable with accommodations with interior halls and entrances. If only outside access is available, it will be stated in the write-up.

The listings include a variety of types of accommodations, from basic to luxurious, in a wide range of prices from economy to money is no object. You’ll find motels, hotels, bed-and-breakfast establishments, a resort hotel with casino, and even a ranch with authentic Indian tepees.
