Description: Del City is located to the east of downtown Oklahoma City. It covers 8 square miles and has a population of 23,000. It was established in 1948. The city was founded by George Epperly and named after his daughter, Delphinia. Located near I-35 and I-40, it is an easy commute to Oklahoma City. John Smith, who grew up in Del City and attended Del City High School, won the gold in 1988 and again in 1992 for wrestling. Today Smith is the head wrestling coach at Oklahoma State University.
