Retirement - Senior Services

The older adult population of the tristate area has its share of community activities and programs. Nearly one-quarter of the area’s population is older than 50, making older adults Greater Cincinnati’s largest population group. In recent years assisted-living facilities have been added in all areas of the tristate and more are being planned. To keep up with issues facing older adults, there are free publications you can pick up at libraries, senior centers and at some stores.

Those age 60 and older qualify for a Golden Buckeye Card, a special discount card honored by thousands of restaurants, retailers, and attraction sites across Ohio that entitles holders to reduced prices and special offers. Call (866) 301-6446 for a card. Those age 62 and older qualify for a Golden Age/Golden Eagle passport that offers free entry to national parks and 50 percent discounts on user fees. Call (513) 684-3262 for a $10 card.

Many golf courses offer senior rates during nonpeak hours. Some restaurants have special senior menus. Those 65 and older can ride the Metro for reduced fares. Banks have special accounts for people who are age 50 and older.
