Description: Dearborn County Hospital was founded in 1959 to serve residents of Southeastern Indiana through its central Lawrenceburg facility and medical office buildings in Rising Sun and Harrison. Its medical and surgical services include diabetes education and support classes, hospice, laparoscopic and laser surgery, lithotripsy for kidney stones and gallstones, and a full range of diagnostic and imaging services. Other services include an infant/child safety program.Dearborn’s long-term expansion plan will end in 2009 with a new state-of-the-art three-floor patient tower. Just recently Dearborn opened the doors to its new subacute unit. Built above the hospital’s O’Brien Wing, the new unit occupies more than 10,000 square feet and has 12 resident rooms, its own rehabilitative therapy gym, a lounge, and a dining room as well as other clinical and public areas. Currently Dearborn is converting its original subacute unit into a medical/surgical floor. The converted unit will include 15 private patient rooms, some of which will be designed for the care of ventilator patients.
