Description: The Bethesda system was begun in 1896 by seven German Methodist deaconesses to minister to the needs of the sick and poor. Today it is part of a system of health-care centers and offices throughout Greater Cincinnati. Bethesda has the second-largest cardiac program in Hamilton County, and it recently was ranked the best heart hospital in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana in a study that reviewed clinical quality outcomes.Bethesda serves the northern suburbs and beyond. It’s the largest and busiest suburban hospital in the tristate area. It provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient surgery, including general medical care, maternity care, a Level II Special Care Nursery, intensive care and coronary care units, physical rehabilitation, cancer treatment, cardiac rehabilitation, and a breast-care center. It has the second-busiest adult emergency room in Greater Cincinnati after University Hospital in Clifton. On or near the Bethesda campus are five physician office buildings and an outpatient surgery center.The Bethesda system has one of the most extensive networks of suburban offices and treatment centers of any Cincinnati hospital system, including centers in Eastgate, Fairfield, and Warren County that provide diagnostic and physical therapy services.
