Description: Metro (no clever acronym) has five local bus and commuter express routes into downtown daily. Metro runs express routes to Bengals games and special events such as Riverfest and Oktoberfest.Rates for riding the Metro differ depending on the region of your trip. Fares are $1.50 in the city. A 50-cent charge is added to the fare if the bus changes zones. A fare of $2.00 to $2.50 is charged on routes in suburban areas.Metro has three zones: 1) within the city, 2) outside of the city but still in Hamilton County, and 3) into surrounding counties. Exact change is required for all Metro rides.Children under 45 inches on Metro and transfer riders from TANK to Metro pay only 50 cents. Bus riders who are age 65 or older, are on Medicare, or have a disability also receive Fare Deal discounts, in which rides are 50 cents. Many Metro routes feature buses equipped with a wheelchair lift. For those with a more severe disability who cannot ride Metro buses, Metro offers the curb-to-curb Access Shuttle within the I-275 beltway. Monthly passes on Metro are $55 for one zone, $75 for two zones, and $95 for all zones. A pass that is good on both Metro and TANK is $85 a month.Most Metro routes culminate at Government Square, on Fifth Street between Walnut and Main Streets downtown.
