Description: This stately old art deco–style hotel is a National Historic Landmark. Notice the intricately carved moldings and unusual art deco accents in the large ballrooms. This is a well-preserved hotel, but because it’s an older building, some rooms are cramped by modern standards. Still, they are grand enough, with lots of walnut, lush carpeting, and comfortable beds. Many rooms have bars, coffeemakers, microwaves, refrigerators, and whirlpools, plus a selection of free and pay in-room movies.Downtown’s shopping mall, Tower Place, is adjacent to the hotel (through Carew Tower), and Saks Fifth Avenue is within easy walking distance. Right across the street are Macy’s and Tiffany’s. Tower Place itself features shops such as The Limited and Walden’s bookstore.
