Description: This sculptural garden was conceived by local artist Glenn Eure and brought to fruition by the nonprofit group Icarus International. It features stainless-steel pylons placed in ascending order by height, symbolizing the steps humans have taken to reach the heavens. Adorning the pylons are black granite slabs that name 100 of the most important moments in the history of flight. The courtyard contains 5,000 bricks, each engraved with a personal message.

Description: The Promenade is one huge family fun center, with an outdoor play park for kids, an indoor arcade with everybody’s favorite games, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a chip and putt, an ice-cream parlor, and a driving range. The water-sports division offers parasailing, sailing, boating, and personal watercraft. You could spend the whole day and eat at the restaurant, snack bar, and picnic tables on-site. The Promenade is open every day in the summer and closes Oct through Mar.

Description: One of the most recognized artists on the Outer Banks, Grumiaux, who works in watercolor, specializes in portraying the buildings, boats, and landscapes that typify this resort area, as well as the lesser-known places in the surrounding towns. Grumiaux is also the one to call for a portrait of your cottage or boat. His work is found in local churches, homes, and galleries such as Greenleaf Gallery in Duck and Seaside Gallery in Nags Head.
