Description: A strange and fascinating collection of music boxes, player pianos, mechanical musical instruments, and melodious oddments make up this museum on a quiet Wiscasset side street. Austrian-born Danilo Konvalinka assembled the collection, and it fills an 1825 sea captain’s home. Check out the musical candy dishes in the Green Room or the shadow box with sailing ships and windmill in the Red Room. Guided tours are offered, and they’re the best way to get a handle on it all. You can get the abbreviated standard tour, which lasts 35 minutes; the standard tour, 1 hour, 15 minutes; or the be-all and end-all, the Grand House Presentation, which lasts for an exhausting 3 hours. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. from Memorial Day through October 15.
