Description: Sacred Heart is a Catholic college prep school for girls in preschool through 12th grade. Founded in 1887 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart, the school educates approximately 800 students. The preschool program emphasizes development of a positive attitude toward learning as well as fundamental readiness skills. In the lower school, a whole language approach is taken to reading. Students also study math, science, social studies, religion, music, art, foreign language, physical education, and computer science. In the middle grades students continue with their core curriculum, adding a peer support program. High school students can enroll in honors classes as well as advanced placement biology. All Sacred Heart graduates generally attend college. In recent years they have been accepted at Auburn, Boston University, Dartmouth, Emerson, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford.
