Description: Since their beginnings in 1815, Louisville Stoneware has been dedicated to the craft of transforming clay into enduring and functional works of art. Utilizing the basic elements of earth, water, air, and fire, skilled artisans create timeless pieces of dinnerware, bakeware, serving pieces, and collectibles that can be enjoyed and cherished for years to come. At Studio One, Louisville Stoneware’s downtown location, visitors can witness artistry in the making with a tour ($7 for children and adults) of one of the nation’s oldest stoneware manufacturing firms. Aside from a visit to the “History of Stoneware” museum, the Louisville Stoneware factory tour includes a stop at the factory retail store for browsing or shopping, and a behind-the-scenes look at the factory where you can watch talented artists at work. Tours can be arranged Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
