Although its primary mission is to serve the children of Kentucky and southern Indiana, Kosair Children’s Hospital treats patients from all 50 states and abroad. The quality of the care it delivers is so good that it was named one of the 10 best in the nation by Child magazine.Founded in 1892, it consolidated with Norton Hospital in 1969 and Kosair Crippled Children’s Hospital in 1981, and then moved to its current location in 1986. Areas of care at Kosair include craniofacial disorders, poison control/ toxicology, cardiovascular surgery, and psychiatry, among others; however, its reputation in the fields of oncology, diabetes, and burn treatment has earned it a spot among the best children’s hospitals in the country.
