Description: The smallest of the three public school districts in Clark County, Indiana—there are approximately 1,400 students enrolled there—the Clarksville Community Schools system has four school buildings in the town that was the site of the beginning of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. There are two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. While striving to serve the educational needs of a diverse group of students, Clarksville Community Schools form part of a countywide special education cooperative, and high school students can participate in the Prosser Area Vocational Program. The Clarksville schools are presently overhauling the curriculum to include statewide standards considered by some educators to be the best in the nation, and these standards will soon be aligned with classroom practice.
