Description: The Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic has 40 parish, regional, and special elementary schools serving more than 15,500 students in seven counties. In Louisville there are also eight secondary schools with some 6,000 students; three are boys only and four are for girls. Focused on the skills needed for today and tomorrow, students emerge from Louisville-area Catholic schools with a strong liberal arts background supported by technology and decision-making skills. Their education allows them to develop high levels of literacy in language arts and mathematics, as well as apply inquiry-based experimentation and problem solving. In addition, they gain an understanding of world history and cultures, participate in award-winning visual and performing arts programs, build lifelong habits of fitness, and engage in a variety of high-quality electives and extracurricular activities. Positive results for a recent secondary school report card included 98 percent of its graduates pursuing college/postsecondary training, 66 Governor’s Scholars, 25 National Merit semi-finalists and 23 National Merit finalists. The average ACT score was 23.7 and the average SAT score was 1164. In addition, students in Louisville’s Catholic schools performed 204,626 hours of community service and received college scholarships and other cash awards valued at $87.8 million.
