Description: If you want to hook up your RV in the middle of the city of Santa Rosa, this is the place. The park itself is behind the main fairgrounds, surrounded on three sides by residential neighborhoods. You can’t brag about the ambience here, but the price is right: $20 per night, with a seven-night maximum (discounts may apply). There are full hookups for 164 RVs of any size, and a laundry room and wi-fi are available. It’s a short drive to shopping and restaurants.

Description: A group camping area and 30 family campsites (4 for tents only) at Spring Lake Park have centrally located restrooms and shower facilities. Also available are 200 picnic sites, barbecue pits, a bikeway, a hiking trail, and equestrian trails. No electricity is available at this campground, which is open daily from the week before Memorial Day until the week after Labor Day and open weekends only during the winter. Please reserve at least 10 days in advance during high season.

Description: Bennett Valley is the perfect place for a golf course, with the peaks of Annadel State Park forming a backdrop to the east. This course underwent updating recently, gaining a new clubhouse, pro shop, and restaurant. It’s an 18-hole, par 72 course that runs 6600 yards. You’ll pay $39 on weekends, $25 during the week if you’re an out of towner; residents pay slightly less. A cart costs an additional $13 per rider.

4. Oakmont Golf Club

Description: With two 18-hole courses—the championship, par 72 West Course and the executive, par 63 East Course—this is one of the Santa Rosa area’s premier facilities. Oakmont is just southeast of town, off Highway 12 where it starts to wind down toward the Sonoma Valley. Prices range from $50 to $65 on weekends for the west course’s 18 holes; twilight fees (any day) are $15 to $30. Fees on the east course are less. Carts are $26 each. You can choose between a snack bar and a sit-down restaurant.

Description: Remodeled in 2006, this 9-hole course at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds was reworked at a cost of $3 million with two sets of tees so golfers can enjoy a full 18-hole round. The white tee is a par 29, running 1500 yards. Green fees are the best deal around: 18 holes for $18 on weekdays and $20 on weekends and holidays. Seniors play for $12 and $18. Pull carts are $5 per player for 18 holes, $3 for 9 holes. The on-site Learning Center offers a variety of golf instruction for individuals and groups.

Description: Wikiup is a cul-de-sac neighborhood just north of Santa Rosa, and the community pretty much revolves around the nine-hole, par 29 executive golf course. Green fees range from $27 to $30. Walking is preferred here, with no metal spikes.
