Hello. Would anyone happen to know when trains happen to roll through downtown Fort Mill? I have a 3 year old who loves to watch the trains going through crossing gates. Thanks

There should be six trains every day, plus special movements meaning some days there could be plenty more.

191 -- is a south bound train from Linwood, NC to either Savannah or Macon.
192 -- is 191's northbund counterpart
337 -- Linwood, NC to Charleston (usually late afternoon)
338 -- 338's northbound counterpart (usually predawn, but sometimes early am)
P83 -- daily local from Rock Hill to Charlotte and back to Rock Hill
Grain trains -- Various unit trains run through Fort Mill to Chester or Monetta. The trains to Chester happen about every 10 days
Office Car Specials -- I wish I had seen tis post earlier so I could have let you know about a train that just went through today using old train locomotives and passenger cars heading down to the Masters. It should come back through a day or two after the golf finishes up in Agusta.

There is a passing siding right near downtown at Main Street. You may see a trsin sitting there. Northbounds will be easily visible from the main drag. A southbound will be better seen near the food warehouse. I forget the name of the business or the road name.

If ypu're not opposed to a short drive, there's the Lancaster and Chester RR. More on the L&C here

Here's a northbound train sitting in the siding

If you think your son might like a train ride the NC Transportation Museum is about an hour from Charlotte. It's really a neat trip for little ones that love trains ( I do too.)
