We will be based in Saratoga for 3-4 days, and plan to use the days for hiking. We are into day hikes - and our range is typically 7-12 miles, 2000-3500 feet elevation change. We have never been to the area but it seemed like a doable distance from SLC and a high enough elevation that we'd not get too badly baked. Due to the Summer heat, our preference is for higher elevation hikes.

I have a trail book on the way but would love some local perspective, advice, must do and better skipped.

Many thanks!

One foot in front of the other, and the next one gets you where you're going !

As the 'Travelocity' gnome would likely say: "Wanda WISELY !"

Snowy Range has some great alpine trails of all lengths and terrain, nice lakes and streams. Encampment museum would great on a rainy day. (Closed Monday iirc)

Vedauwo, very nice hiking as well, 1,5 hrs east, but quite unique.
Fishing / streams is a draw of Saratoga, search for that.
Chambers and Red feather lake areas of Colorado are near., But snowy range can easily occupy a week.

Thank you very much! We are more into hiking. We chose to camp in Saratoga as I require reliable internet for the part that overlaps with the work week.

The Snowy range is where we are planning to focus on. Not expecting any rainy days!

We did a nice hike in Curt Howdy State park, it's close to Laramie and vedauwoo. We did the hidden falls hike which wasn't very challenging, but it was fun to find the waterfall in the canyon and cool off on a hot day.

They have tons of other hikes there. Check it out on their website and find one that appeals to you.
