Hey guys, this is my first time on this forum but it's honestly the perfect place I've been looking for. I'm going on 19 years old and I live in Tampa, FL.

Anyway, my plan is to move to NW Wyoming sometime in the fall of 2008. I know there are a lot of oil fields out there and I am very interested in working with them. My father did the same thing at my age and has told me amazing stories that have shaped the dreams I have today. I am a very hard worker and I believe I could do well out there. I know this post may seem ignorant but I have to start somewhere! And I believe that I can do anything I put my full effort into.

Does anybody here have a past working or currently work in the fields?

I'm really looking for information as to where some companies are, how they are, how they pay, etc.

Thanks a lot!

James

There's currently a boom in gas drilling in Northwestern Colorado.

Here's a web site where you can find all the jobs listed with the state agencies. Pretty self explanitory and easy to use.

It will give you the job titles of all the jobs available in the state. Click on one of them and it will give you that jobs details. Pay, vacation, medical, dental, job description, everything.

James, just a note extra. You are bringing your social security card and birth certificate, right?
Just wondering. If it seems like a weird question. I had a guy from here in TN go up to Montana, and had to wait for his mother to drive 1 1/2 hours and go through his storage shed in east TN. And then mail it to him in Wyoming. She was 69 years old. It was his second time away from home.
He was sitting on his butt for two weeks living in his car and seeing how far he could stretch a buck. Good experience for him, but uneeded.

James I don't know what kind of work or money your used to. But at 17 when I got into the oilpatch as a roughneck, in 1974. Being off a farm/ranch in colorado. I thought money rained from the sky. I was young worked many hours and could get by with only a few hours sleep. Working a double shift was nothing, I even worked a few tripples and was there ready for my shift. Thats up for 32 hours straight. On casing crews we'd work even more than that if needed. If you could imaging when the national minimun wage was $2.30 an hour. A 17 year old kid walking around with a couple thousand dollars in his pocket. Worked for legally. The first five years in the oilpatch was like Christmas to me and then the bust hit. I also had that time to, as alot of people did. I hope you like wyoming.
