I have WFH for about half of the work week and one of those days is Monday.

If Monday is a holiday so you don't get the benefit of using the WFH day, do people usually take a WFH during another day like Tuesday instead?

Every company's policy is probably different, how would we know? Ask your manager.

Also...this is a kind of question that undercuts my support for WFH/hybrid.

If Monday is a designated holiday, it is a holiday at my company. We are not expected to WFH that day. We will resume WFH the following day (provided it is not another holiday.)

Check with your manager to clarify expectations.

What if Tuesday is one of your in-the-office days? Do you think it's generally allowed to WFH on that day to make up for Monday if it was a holiday?

I would expect you to be at work. No one here knows what your manager expects. You need to ask them.

Why would you get a day off if your WFH happens on a holiday? You don't work from home on that day, and that's your holiday. One of my WFM days is on a Monday, and if a holiday falls on a Monday, I don't work. I don't take another day off.

Our hybrid schedule is up to the immediate supervisor. If someone asked me to swap I would probably allow it. I selected one of my two days a week in the office for Monday, just for that reason. I don't have to get "permission" anyway as a manager, but most holidays are Monday so just as well to make that a work in office day.

If Tuesday is your in office day, then go into the office. Why should the schedule even be a discussion? But while you're there ask you boss what they expect for future holidays.

Because employees prefer WFH?? Or because it leads to complications like this?

If a WFH day falls on a holiday and the next day is an in the office day, why would anyone think they wouldn't go to the office on the second day? You are expected to be in the office. Go to the office.
