When we visited the area in November, deer passed by our house every morning at about the same time, apparently going to water further down the hill. One day, they gathered for a while directly behind our house. Now, a month later, there’s no sign of them. Have they changed their habits now that it’s grown much colder?

What deer prefer to eat may be gone do to colder weather . Pressure form the hunting can cause deer to change there habits slightly but not that much . Deer get at least 50% to 80%+ of there water needs form what they eat . As leaves fall to the ground deer will move try to stay closer there changing food supplies and to cover too .

Now there are thangs you can do to keep them closer depending on your property . Deer love Persimmons & honeysuckle , clover and leave an area of grass grow long heading into cooler weather .

You could take a slow walk in the wooded areas around you mid day and look for narrow deer trails fresh deer tracks or even deer at a distance .

We see many deer in our area, and they have been especially prevalent during rutting season.
