Hi everyone, new to this site and its wonderful!
I'm looking to buy home in Connestee Falls in Brevard and my fear is that the area I would be in will never be converted to high speed cable. The area is on North side on Oduque Ct. and has only had DSL internet service...
The house is "cable ready" but my understanding is that it will cost Comporium like a $1mm to get everyone hooked up and thus may not do this area as there are not enough homes to get a payback...that is rumor only that I've heard....some say it will get done.
Two questions:
* Anyone familiar with this situation and could feel confident of what Comporium's plans actually are?
*If you've had DSL with Comporium was it able to handle streaming of HD movies on devices like Netflix and Amazon Prime?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or comments!

I’m in Brevard and have Comporium. I stream Netflix and Amazon with no problem.

I had DSL before the cable and streamed stuff just fine, but I had the middle tier which was 9 MB instead of 7(but that's not a big difference). Even played a lot of multiplayer games on Xbox Live with no problems.

Thanks WCU,
I believe that the DSL is dedicated to your phone but not sure if the "pipeline" still can't be effected by others same in the neighborhood during peak times. Ignorant to this, will need to check further...thanks for your experience!

@Wisccheez88,

We're also looking at a home in Connestee, and are concerned that high speed internet will never make it our way. The house that we're looking at is located on the North side of Tsuyvtlvi Ct, and currently only has the option for very overpriced, low speed DSL service through Comporium. Were you able to find out more information about bottle-necking issues during high use periods?

Cordwoodcroft,

We just got our Comporium 7mb DSL last week.
I've been pleasantly surprised...Netflix and hulu working well, no buffering.
We are using an Amazon Fire stick with the older plasma as well.
Looks solid and I'm pretty picky.
Internet service has been 4-5 bars around main level and second story loft. 3 bars in basement of 2700 sq ft home. Works great for wifi calling on cell phones as well but we got the home phone as difference in price was negligible and just to have as backup.
Downloading anything large will be slow, that I can assure you. However, basic internet stuff and email, etc no problems....
They will let you try for 30 days without locking you into 2 year agreement...just ask for Karen in Brevard office.
The talk is they will have high speed here within 18-24 months possibly sooner...will see.
For now, no issues...Netflix worked downstairs as well and I bought wifi extenders but haven't had to use them.
