Currently live in Florida where medical care is pretty good if you shop around. Very good choice of doctors, specialists, hospitals, etc. Am thinking of relocating to WV in a few years and since my wife is a cancer survivor and haa some other health issues I was wondering about the qualiity of medical care in WV. Any advice or comments? Thank you for reading and for your time.

Healthcare is going to be better for you in the areas around Huntington, Charleston and Morgantown. There are larger medical centers in these cities with cancer centers as well. Huntington and Morgantown also have the advantage of having medical schools attached to their hospitals too. If you’d like any information about Huntington, I live here and will do my best to help.

What tbailey1138 said is all correct. In the Charleston area, CAMC operates 4 full service hospitals, a cancer care center, imaging centers, clinics, and medical practice groups for just about any specialty imaginable. I've had more experience with them than I'd like. Feel free to ask me about that.

WVU Medicine has taken over the operation of two smaller hospitals in the Charleston area. Some of the things they want to make happen will take several years to implement, but things have already greatly improved at Thomas Hospital with WVU Medicine managing things.

I wouldn't leave Parkersburg off that list. There have a great cardiology department and cancer center along with a growing number of specialties.

We live in the Northern Panhandle up near Wheeling/Weirton. We aren’t far from Pittsburgh and it’s great medical of UPMC and Allegheny Health. My husband and I have a majority of our care thru Allegheny Health.

We don’t have cancer but we are spotted unicorns when it comes to our health that most smaller hospitals haven’t a clue how to deal with us.
