Sounds like it could be very promising to the area if done correctly. Mason County has been on a roll. The completion of Route 35 is paying off in a big way.
Agreed. There have already been discussions about improving Route 2 as well which would improve access even more. I’m sure any upgrades there are years away though.

Route 2's upgrade needs to be the next priority as far as infrastructure goes. The 2 plants will want quicker access to I-64 West. That would be good for Huntington, as more development could take place along the Ohio River between Cabell and Mason counties.
I agree that it needs to happen sooner rather than later but the way that the state government works in WV, it will take at least twice as long as it should. Some areas will be difficult to widen due to houses and landscape but I'd like to see them at least straighten the road and put in turn lanes and/or passing lanes. Just doing those things would go a long way in making the road a lot safer.

Many West Virginians would disagree with that statement. If you've travelled the state much, then surely you know that Route 2 between Huntington and Pt Pleasant is one of the better 2 lane roads in the state.
Granted, it's not built to the standards of a limited access highway, but it beats the heck out of many other windy, narrow 2 lane roads that have big trucks running them every day.

I meant that it should be a priority as far as local improvements go. Not high on the list of overall state needs.
Yay Mason County! The construction is finally underway.
