A $760M investment and a minimum of 750 full time permanent jobs coming to Weirton in a battery manufacturing plant. Construction is expected to begin in 2023, with production beginning in 2024. Great news for the area, I think this will really be a booster for the Wheeling-Weirton Northern Panhandle region. Senator Capito says more facilities and jobs are to come. This could be political talk, or this could be a true indicator on what’s to come for this region in WV.

Wonderful news. Since this is the first ever plant for this company, I will temper my expectations, but if it comes to fruition this will be a huge blessing for Weirton.

That’s a different factory/company, in which the company ended up choosing Taylor County WV across from Clarksburg.

This is fantastic news. It looks like Weirton is going to elevate the Brooke, Hancock and Jefferson County Ohio areas on its own. I will say there has been a lot of development on three springs drive.

I lived in Weirton from 2007 to 2008. I just drove through there last month and it sure upgraded a ton since then. I did like living in Wv but I just don't like their high taxes.

Weirton has gotten a lot better in the last number of years. I first went there in 2011 about a year before the steel mill closed and it was a pretty sad sight. Was there a few times in 2017 looking at some properties I was contemplating buying - the job market was horrid so I ended up landing a good job in Charleston and worked/lived there for a few years. By 2021 when I was last there, it looked a bit better. House prices are up or so seem it these days, same with Wheeling.

WV wins for property taxes where Ohio wins for income tax. I've never broken them down to totality to see which has the higher effective tax rate with all considered.
