I'm going to a wedding reception next weekend. The groom invited me and like ten others from our sports league. It's been awhile (pre-covid) since I went to a wedding. What is the appropriate gift amount ranges these days?
I'm planning on buying something on the registry this week (honeymoon options)
My relationship to the groom- Friends. Only known the groom for less than a year. We're in a league together that meets almost every other week. The wedding reception is local and casual dressy. It's at a brewery with a BBQ type of menu for dinner.
The amount you spend on a gift is exactly what you are comfortable spending. It is your gift. You determine the amount. There are no guidelines, and the style of wedding doesn't matter at all.
Location: As of 2022….back to SoCal. OC this time!

If they are registered, it’s super easy. There will be lots of things to select in different price ranges. I’ve never seen honeymoon options but I see “Funds” for honeymoon, house, AirBnB, stuff like that…a lot. The average person spends like $50 or $100 but you could also join with other friends from your sports league & give a group gift. That’s super common for coworkers to do if they don’t know the bride or groom that personally. It’s up to you & your budget what to spend.

Yes..you said he “could scale down” from $300 to $500. IMO, it didn’t seem like you were trying to be super helpful to the O.P. or answer for the O.P.’s situation & the registry.

IMO, it didn’t seem like you were trying to be super helpful to the O.P. or answer for the O.P.’s situation & the registry.
